Don't Panic! Temporary Call Disruption During Porting Explained

Relax, it's temporary! In some cases, your old phone number might deactivate before your new one fully activates. This means you might temporarily miss calls, or your new number shows when you call others.

Here's what to do:

Just started porting?

  • Breathe easy: The port usually takes 2-14 business days. Your ability to receive calls will return automatically once complete.
  • Need calls sooner? Contact your new carrier. Explain the situation and ask if they can temporarily reactivate your old number until the port finishes.

Port scheduled for today?

  • Try a quick restart: Switch your phone off and back on.
  • Hard reset needed? Look up instructions for your specific phone model here: How do I Restart/Reboot my phone?
  • Still no calls? Contact your phone carrier. They haven't finalized the port, and only they can complete it.
